The Karnataka High Court provided temporary relief to H.D. Kumaraswamy the Janata Dal leader. The HC directed the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to not arrest the former CM until next hearing on the mining case.
The court before adjourning a hearing on the anticipatory bail plea said the SIT should file an objection. After this, Justice Rathnakala passed an interim order instructing the agency not to arrest Kumaraswamy.
The former CM’s counsel expressed apprehension the accused’s arrest by SIT. The SIT is all set to probe allegations that Kumaraswamy pressured IAS officer Gangaram Baderiya the commissioner at that time for mines and geology to issue orders. These orders allowed Vinod Goel to lift iron ore dumped in the Chitradurga mines. Vinay Goel is the owner of Janathakal Mining and did not follow proper procedures for the process.
