Google has issued a notification that a phishing scam is doing the rounds and impersonating Google Docs. The company also issued that they are disabling offensive accounts and also removed fake pages to assure increased the safe browsing feature.
The company said that this is spread by fraudulent invitation that requests or grants access to a Google Doc album or page. The reports, in particular, mentions a detailed user thread on Reddit. The link posted on the thread will take users to a site that resembles Google Docs and requests a mail id and password to access their accounts. Once the user agrees to the terms and conditions, the phishing e-mails will be sent to the contacts of the user.
The organization also urged about using their safe browsing feature and also the affected users to use this feature. The attackers’ e-mail according to the company will be directed to [email protected] and then bind copied to the recipient.
