Xiaomi Takes A Giant Leap In India With Vizag Facility

So here’s AP Chief Minister’s first goal!! The tech savvy CM, who’s often being referred as the Hi-tech CM has yet again proved that, he is someone who can attract foreign investments and transform the region into a global IT corridor.

Now, in its first major announcement post bifurcation, AP CM has announced that leading Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi’s first ‘Made In India’ product will be manufactured in Vishakapatnam (Vizag) from today.

In a bid to boost the ‘Make In India’ initiative, AP CM has launched Made in Andhra Pradesh programme, that will set a platform for all major companies to come and manufacture their products there, complimented by loyalty programs.

Xiaomi, which has off late seen a huge growth in its market and especially India, is currently the third largest smartphone maker, in the world, with its wearble device Mi Band being the most shipped wearable device in the world.

Earlier this year, CM Chandrababu visited China post which Xiaomi has decided to setup its facility in Visakhapatnam, to launch its first made-in-India smartphone.

Hugo Barra, Vice President for Xiaomi, posted a picture of the Vishakapatnam hoarding on Twitter, Barra said: “Good morning Vizag! Xiaomi is about to take a giant leap forward in India.”
