Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, approved ₹11,471 crore worth of developmental projects for Amaravati. These projects, cleared earlier by the Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA), aim to transform Amaravati into a modern capital.
The Cabinet decided to cancel old tenders and invite fresh bids for these initiatives, including the construction of administrative towers, an Assembly building, a High Court complex, and 360 km of trunk roads. Minister P. Narayana stated that project costs had increased by 30% due to prior neglect by the previous administration.
Additionally, policies to enhance Andhra Pradesh’s economic growth were approved. These include the Andhra Pradesh IT and Global Capability Centres Policy, Textile Policy, and Maritime Policy. The government aims to position Andhra Pradesh as a global hub for the knowledge economy and maritime activities. A mega shipyard and shipbuilding clusters are planned to boost employment and industrial growth.
The Cabinet also approved measures to resolve water issues in Uddanam, Pulivendula, and Done regions and committed to completing pending housing units under central schemes. Furthermore, Amaravati will be developed as an electric mobility city, attracting ₹30,000 crore in investments and creating 60,000 jobs.
