Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has clarified that the government’s proposal for the Kodangal region is for an industrial corridor, not a pharma city, as previously speculated. During a meeting with Left party leaders on Saturday, the CM addressed concerns regarding land acquisition in Lagachar, assuring that the government would not acquire fertile land but would focus on non-polluting industries to provide employment for youth and women in the region.
Left leaders, including CPI State Secretary Koonanneni Sambasivarao and CPM State Secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram, had visited Lagachar and surrounding villages earlier in the week. They presented a petition with nine demands, urging the government to withdraw its land acquisition proposal for the pharma project and cancel cases against farmers. They also called for the removal of police camps in the region and the release of individuals not involved in violent incidents.
In response, CM Revanth Reddy emphasized his commitment to the development of Kodangal, stating that he would consider increasing compensation for land acquisition. He also instructed the Vikarabad district collector to ensure normalcy by removing police camps and allowing rice harvesting in the villages. The CM promised that alternatives for agricultural land would be explored.
