On the 6th of December, on Monday, in a shocking event, Mr. Wasim Rizvi, the Chairman of Shia Central Waqf Board, Uttar Pradesh, converted to Hindu.
According to sources, Mr. Wasim Rizvi was converted into a Hindu by Mahant Narasimha Ananda Sarawati of Dasna Temple in Uttar Pradesh.
In addition, Wasim Rizvi also announced his will to be cremated as per Hindu rituals, instead of being buried. He wanted his pyre to be lit by Mahant Narasimha Ananda of Dasna Temple in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh.
After conversion of religion, Wasim Rizvi will be known as Harbir Singh Narayan Tyagi.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time, Mr. Wasim Rizvi made headlines over his religious point of view. In the past also, he expressed his support for Hinduism and made anti Muslim remarks, which were criticised by many Muslim leaders of India politics including Mr. Asaduddeen Owaisi, the President of the All India Majlis e Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM.) Recently Mr. Owaisi filed a first information report (FIR) against Wasim Rizvi for making derogatory remarks against the Prophet Mohammed in a book.
In addition, Wasim Rizvi also filed a petition against 26 verses of Quran, the religious book of Islam. According to his petition, verses 26 of Quran promotes terrorism and should be changed.
