In Uttar Pradesh, teachers of varanasi took out “pink rallies” to create voting awareness amongst voters, on the 24th of February.
The rallies on pink scooters were taken out ahead of the fifth- phase of the Uttar Pradesh elections. Varanasi school teachers wearing pink outfits, riding pink scooters launched the rallies, asking voters, especially women to perform their franchise and vote.
The decision to conduct awareness rallies were taken out after witnessing a less number of voters turnout in the past 4 phases of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, which started from the 10th of February. Notably in the past 4 phases of elections, an average of 60% voters turnout were reported, of which number of female voters were less than the men voters in the State.
The past four phases of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections were held on the 10th of February, the 14th of February, the 20th of February, the 23rd of February.
Meanwhile, the rallies started from police cross line, Varanasi and would end at the same point, covering 10 km.
Meanwhile, the fifth-phase election of Uttar Pradesh is scheduled on the 25th of February, Friday.
The results of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections would be announced on the 10th of March.
