Annapurna Veena, an IIIT Nuzvid student committed suicide by hanging herself in the hostel room on Thursday. The 18 year old girl was pursuing B.tech from IIIT and committed suicide because of a love failure.
When Veena’s friends found her hanging from the ceiling they alerted the college management. The authorities moved her immediately to a government hospital in Nuzviid where she was pronounced brought dead. Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinivas said, “Various versions are doing the rounds but we cannot confirm anyone of them. The truth will come out only after the final probe report.” He also added, “The reasons are still unclear, but her roommates told us that she was upset after a phone conversation last night. They were then told that she would commit suicide but they did not take it seriously.”
The Human Resource Development Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao ordered the IIIT- Nuzvid director Veeranki Vankatadas and the police to conduct an in depth research and submit a report on this issue very soon.
