The Vande Bharat Mission (VBM) an Air India flight is set to operate from Wuhan for the first time since the nationwide lockdown was imposed.
On the 24th of March, the Prime Minister of India imposed a nationwide lockdown as a precautionary measure to control the spread of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
The VBM is all set to operate its flight to Wuhan on the 30th of October.
Wuhan is the centre of the emergence of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19.
However, in June the Chinese City was declared safe from the COVID-19 virus and all curbs were lifted.
In regard to the current situation, the Indian Government decided to airlift Indians stranded in Wuhan.
The Indian Embassy on the evening of the 23rd of October, released a statement which read, “A Vande Bharat Mission (VBM) flight would be operated from the Delhi-Wuhan sector on October 30.”
Initially the Delhi-Wuhan flight was scheduled on the 23rd of October.
However, it was postponed to the 30th of October for unknown reasons.
India last operated three flights to Wuhan to airlift Indians stranded in February 2020.
Air India has operated five VBM flights so far helping Indians stranded in both countries to travel back to their destinations.
