Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Bengaluru, Karnataka, on the 3rd of January to inaugurate the 107th Indian Science Congress at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Gandhi Krishi Vignan Kendra (G.K.V.K.) campus.

This year, the theme of the event is “Science and Technology for Rural Development.”

The five day event at the G.K.V.K. campus would witness more than 15,000 participants from across the world, including Germany’s Stefan Hell and Ada E. Yonath from Israel.  Both Mr. Hell and Ms. Yonath are Nobel laureates.

Subra Suresh, the President of Nanyang Technological University and a materials scientist, as well as renowned cardiologist C.N. Manjunath would also be a part of the event.

Dr. S. Rajendra Prasad, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Agriculture Sciences, said, “Many farmers in the Country have become innovative and experts. We wanted to bring all of them on a single platform so their innovations and innovative ideas are discussed and deliberated for the whole day.”

B.S. Yediyurappa, the Chief Minister of Karnataka, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the Health Minister of India and other Union ministers would also attend the event.
