As many as 16 schools that are located near the LoC have been closed indefinitely by the Poonch district administration in Rajouri.

On Tuesday, Pakistan started firing and shelling in two sectors of Jammu and Kashmir on the Line of Control (LoC.)

Defense Ministry Spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel, Manish Mehta was quoted saying, “The Pakistani Army initiated the unprovoked firing in Bhimber Gali and Poonch sectors along the LoC.”

At 6:45 A.M., the firing began with small arms, mortars and automatics. Lt.Col. Manish Mehta also added  the Indian army counterattacked “strongly and effectively.”

The indiscriminate firing led to closing the schools and also an order has been released to transport the civilians to safer locations.

Pakistan attacked yesterday as well that resulted in the death of a child and a soldier in Rajouri.

The ceasefire violation on Monday also resulted in one soldier and two civilians seriously injured in the Uri sector.

Other than the Pakistani forces, militants have attacked a village head in Anantnag district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

The police reported, “Militants fired at Nazir Ahmad Shah resident of Panzath (Qazigund.) He is affiliated with the National Conference.”

He further said, “He has been hospitalized and doctors have described his condition as stable.”
