Harbhajan Singh Announces Retirement From All Forms Of Cricket

Cricketer Harbhajan Singh, on the 24th of December, Friday, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

The Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) off spinner retired and ended his 23 year long cricket journey, with a message posted on Twitter. 

The Twitter message read, “All good things come to an end and today as I bid adieu to the game that has given me everything in life, I would like to thank everyone who made this 23-year-long journey beautiful and memorable.  My heartfelt thank you. Grateful.”  Besides the Twitter post, the cricketer even posted a video message which said, “Whenever I have worn an Indian jersey and stepped on the field, there has been no bigger motivation for me.  But there are points in life when you have to make some hard decisions.  I was planning to make an announcement for the last few years and today I announce my retirement from all forms of the game.”  He further said, “I had been away from active cricket for some time now.  But I couldn’t officially announce my retirement due to my commitment to the Kolkata Knight Riders.  However, during IPL 2021 I had made up my mind that I will announce my retirement at the end of this season.” 

In his 23 year long journey as a cricketer, Mr. Harbhajan played 103 Test matches, 236 One Day Internationals (ODIs,) 28 Twenty-20 matches for India.

The 41 year old cricketer started with the Indian Cricket Team in 1998, and played against New Zealand.  He played his last match in 2016 March against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
