KTR Takes Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, the Working President of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS)  once again criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led Central Government.

On the 23rd of May, Monday, the Telangana Information Technology (IT) and Urban Development Minister Mr. K.T. Rama Rao demanded the Narendra Modi-led Central Government scrap the cess on fuel. He said, by diminishing the cess charges on fuels, the prices would reduce to the 2014 level.

The statement came after the BJP-led Government of India (GoI) asked the respective state governments to reduce or slash the Value Added Tax (VAT) on fuels, to reduce the burden of prices on consumers.  Reacting to the demand of the Central Government, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao took to Twitter and said, that crude prices in May 2014 and now in May 2022 are almost the same yet petrol was Rs. 70 per liter then and Rs. 120 now.   He added, “Telangana VAT has remained unchanged.  So what & who caused price rise & who is responsible.”  He further added, “There was this shopkeeper next to my school who used to hike the prices by 300% during peak season & then just to hoodwink people, slash it by 30% & his cronies would start hailing it as a bumper offer & thank him! Sounds familiar?  Who increased the prices in the first place?”

KTR also pointed out that special additional excise duty, road, and infrastructure cess, and agriculture and infrastructure development cess all unilaterally imposed by the Union Government are responsible for the fuel price hike.

Meanwhile, this is not the first time that the TRS Government and leaders questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi led Central Government over issues like petrol prices, farm laws, and others.  In the past also, the TRS leaders, especially Mr. K.T. Rama Rao criticized the BJP for various issues.  The leader even questioned the frequent visits of the national leaders to Telangana, when according to him, the BJP and other opposition parties never contributed to the welfare of the people, especially the people of Telangana.

Furthermore, the political fight is increasing in the Telugu State of Telangana, which is scheduled to conduct its Assembly elections in 2023.
