BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has sent a legal notice to Telugu newspaper Eenadu over a report claiming that a special court ordered the temporary seizure of his passport. KTR has said no such court order exists.
Through his lawyer N Lalitha Reddy, KTR demanded that the report be withdrawn within 48 hours. He also sought a correction with the same prominence and an unconditional apology.
The notice said the ACB investigating officer had only filed a memo before the special court seeking orders on KTR’s passport. It alleged that the newspaper wrongly presented the memo as a court order.
KTR’s counsel also pointed to a September 28 show-cause notice from the Regional Passport Office under Section 10(3)(e) of the Passports Act. The notice gave KTR 15 days to respond.
KTR has warned of civil and criminal defamation action if the demands are not met.
