The Wuhan virus, also known as the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) active cases in Telangana, came down to 7,268 from the previous 8,000 cases.
In the past 24 hours, the State witnessed a total of 245 new cases, the lowest in the past one week. Besides the new cases, Telangana reported 1 death and 582 recoveries from the deadly virus. Highlighting the recoveries, compared to previous below 500 recoveries in a day, Telangana reported a rise in recovery cases.
The figures of the COVID-19 infection were released through a media bulletin. On the evening of the 15th of August, the Telangana Health Department released a media bulletin and updates about the COVID-19 situation in Telangana.
With this, Telangana now has 6,52,380 positive cases, of which 7,268 are active cases, 6,41,270 are recovered/discharged cases and 3,842 are deceased.
The new cases were confirmed after conducting COVID-19 tests of 50,126 samples, taking the cumulative total to 2.33 crores till date.
According to sources, the highest number of cases have been reported from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) region, areas of Medchal Malkajgiri, Khammam, Warangal and Karimnagar. The GHMC reported the highest number of COVID-19 (52) cases in the past 24 hours, followed by Karimnagar (30) and Rangareddy with 15 cases.
Meanwhile, with a slight fall in the COVID-19 cases, the active containment zones are at 20 from the previous 23 with no micro containment zones in Hyderabad.
The recovery rate of Telangana also improved to 98.29% from the previous 98.21 % and the fatality rate of COVID-19 at 0.58 %.
It is to be noted, of the total active cases, 79.90 % cases are asymptomatic, whereas, only 20.10 % are symptomatic. In addition, a total of 1.61 crore COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered in Telangana till date.
