Ms. Y.S. Sharmila, the President of the Yuvajana Shramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRTP) on the 19th of December, Sunday, started the ‘Rythu Avedana Yatra’ in Medak district, Telangana.
On Sunday, Ms. Y.S. Sharmila visited the family members of who died by suicide. During her visit, the YSRTP President met with families of farmers who died in Kanchanapally, Narsapur assembly constituency, and Lingampally village of Kawdipalli Mandal, Medak district. She will continue to meet families in different regions during Rythu Avedana Yatra.
Addressing the public at Medak, Ms. Y.S.Sharmila criticised the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Government. She said that the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government is responsible for farmers’ suicide in the State. She further referred KCR to a chameleon because first, he asked the farmers to not produce paddy and then he said he would buy all the paddy. Finally, he contradicted himself again and said he won’t buy paddy. She said, “Farmers who became enslaved by debt died by suicide after failing to get returns.”
In addition, during her padyatra, Ms. Y.S. Sharmila asked the TRS Government to provide Rs. 25 lakh in compensation to the farmers’ relatives.
Meanwhile, soon, Ms. Sharmila’s halted Praja Prasthanam padayatra is also expected to resume soon. Due to the elections in Telangana, on the 10thof November, the Election Commission (EC) halted her padyatra.
However, now Ms. Y.S. Sharmila is set to resume Praja Prasthanam padayatra. During this Praja Prasthanam padayatraPraja Prasthanam padayatra, Ms. Y.S.Sharmila would walk 4,000 km covering 16 of the 17 Lok Sabha constituencies and all Assembly constituencies. However, she would not cover Assembly constituencies under the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.
