With the intensified war of water, the Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government decided to knock the door of the Supreme Court (SC.)
After various complaints with the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) and request of the Central Government’s intervention, the A.P., Government is now set to approach the SC over the Krishna River water dispute.
The ongoing issue between the two Telugu states, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, intensified with allegations from each other against each other.
Now, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) is expected to file a petition regarding the excessive use of the Krishna River water by TelanganaTelangana. The YSRCP Government would also mention the illegal construction and activities related to the Krishna River in a petition filed with the Apex Court.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., recently wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi regarding the same. The YSRCP Member of Parliament (MP) Vijayasai Reddy also met with the Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat regarding the Krishna River issue.
However, when there was no satisfactory result of the complaints and letters, the A.P., Government decided to take the matter to the SC.
According to sources, in the petition, the YSRCP Government would request the Top Court to oversee the agreements between the two states and orders of various tribunals on water sharing are properly implemented.
It is to be noted, the Krishna River water dispute between Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is continuing over the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation work. The illegal construction and projects on the banks of the Krishna and the Godavari rivers by both the Telangana Government and the Andhra Pradesh Government is a long pending matter, which intensified in the past few months. The matter intensified with a war of words between the Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy led Andhra Pradesh Government and the K. Chandrashekar Rao led Telangana Government, seeking intervention of the KRMB and the Central Government.Central Government.
