After witnessing a decline in the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases, India once again reported the highest 4.12 lakh new cases.

On the 7th of May, the Union Health Ministry confirmed 4,12,262 new cases, 3,980 deaths and 3,29,113 recoveries from COVID-19 infection.

The top five states which have registered maximum cases are Maharashtra with 57,640 cases, followed by Karnataka with 50,112 cases, Kerala with 41,953 cases, Uttar Pradesh with 31,111 cases and Tamil Nadu with 23,310 cases.

Around 49.52 % of the new cases are reported from these five states, with Maharashtra alone contributing to 13.98 % of the new cases. In addition, maximum casualties were also reported in Maharashtra with 920 deaths, followed by Uttar Pradesh with 353 daily deaths.

The data of the COVID-19 infection in India has been updated on the official website of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW.) As per the website, the nation has 21,077,410 positive cases, of which 17,280,844 are recovered/discharged cases, 35,66,398 are active cases and 2,30,168 are deceased cases.

In addition, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) conducted as many as 29,67,75,209 sample tests for COVID-19 till date. Of the total, 19,23,131 samples were tested on Wednesday, the 6th of May.

Adding to the same, the vaccination drive which started from the 16th of January, now administered 16,25,13,339 people with COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, the struggle of getting oxygen and proper medication along with COVID-19 vaccination is still going on. Many government and private hospitals are urging for oxygen supply to treat critical COVID-19 patients.
