On Saturday, the Border Security Force (BSF) seized a Pakistani fishing boat in Kutch of Gujarat, near the Harami Nala Channel. Officials said this boat was found empty and sailing mid water. It was a small boat with a fitted engine and was found one kilometer into the Indian waters, by the BSF patrolling party.
A BSF official said, “It appears that the occupants of the boat might have fled to the Pakistani side on hearing the sound of approaching BSF boat.” This is the fourth boat that the BSF has seized after the start of 2017. OF these three were single engine boats and found three kilometers into Indian territory. One boat, that was seized in January was found filled with crabs weighing 40 kilograms.
The officials suspect that the passengers of the boat might have fled into Indian territory and are canvasing the nearby towns and cities for them.
