The AIADMK ruling party in Tamil Nadu said it would not stop fighting to get its adequate share from the Cauvery. Opposition party DMK took the opportunity to point fingers are the Government after the Supreme Court announced the verdict in Karnataka’s favor.
The Apex Court announced Tamil Nadu would get 177.25 tmc ft water while Karnataka gets 284.75 tmc ft. AIADMK MP M. Navaneethakrishnan said, “Our government will continue its fight to get adequate water for Tamil Nadu.”
After the verdict, the Court directed a Cauvery Management Board to be set up to monitor the water consumption. DMK President M. K. Stalin said the verdict was shocking and blamed Tamil Nadu CM K. Palaniswami. Stalin said he condemned the Chief Minister for failing to submit appropriate evidence to the Court to get adequate water. The Court said it verdict was based on Tamil Nadu failing to provide accounts for 20 tmc of groundwater.
DMK Leader Duraimurugan expressed his dissatisfaction towards the ruling party. He said he was upset AIADMK were unsuccessful in handling the case efficiently and lost 15 tmc ft of water for the State.
