On the 17th of January, Tuesday, Mr. Tejasvi Surya, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Karnataka, was slammed for his mistake of opening emergency exit gate in an IndiGo flight.
On the 17th of January, netizens and other leaders took a dig at Mr. Tejasvi Surya, who accidentally opened the emergency exit of an IndiGo plane after boarding at Chennai airport last month. However, the incident occurred when the flight was on ground and was ready to take off. Due to accidentally opening of the emergency exit gate, the flight to Chennai was delayed for two hours, but no compromise of life or safety happened, confirmed IndiGo.
The incident came into light recently, but, the identity of the passenger was not revealed. It was on Tuesday when it was revealed that the passengers blamed for opening the emergency exit in a flight was none other than a BJP leader and MP of South Bengaluru Mr. Tejasvi Surya.
After the revelation of the identity, the opposition leaders questioned as to why the Government hid the incident so long. The Karnataka Indian National Congress said, “Tejasvi Surya is an example of what will happen if children playing games are given the proprietorship. An act of children’s mischief by trying to open the emergency exit door of the plane has come to light. Why prank with the lives of passengers?” They further added, “What was the MP’s intention? What plans were there to create a disaster? Why was he transferred to the back seat after apologising?” It further asked, “Why is this not being investigated?”
Meanwhile, a senior official at aviation regulatory body, the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said the event was duly reported and that no safety was compromised.
Reacting to the DCGA’s statement, Mr. Randeep Singh Surjewala, the All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary In Charge of Karnataka, said, “The BJP VIP Brats ! How dare the airline complain? Is it the norm for the BJP power elite? Did it compromise passenger safety? Ohhh! U can’t ask questions about BJP’s entitled VIP’s !”
Another leader of Karnataka INC Priyank Khagre said, “Why is Indigo so hesitant to name the passenger? Why didn’t they report to DGCA? Why is No Comments from the MP? BJP’s Tejasvi Surya allegedly opened emergency exit of IndiGo flight, flight delayed by 2 hours.”
