New Delhi: The National Commission for Scheduled Castes (NCSC) has issued a notice to the Andhra Pradesh government regarding the recent attack on the Ambedkar statue in Vijayawada. The action follows a complaint filed by leaders of the YSR Congress Party, who expressed grave concern over the incident.
In response, the NCSC has directed the state government to submit a comprehensive Action Taken Report (ATR) within a week, detailing the measures implemented following the attack. The Commission has underscored the urgency of the matter, emphasizing that the report must be submitted within the specified timeframe.
The notice, addressed jointly to the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police (DGP) of Andhra Pradesh, carries a stern warning. The NCSC has cautioned that failure to comply with the directive will lead to the Commission taking further legal action under its statutory authority.
This development highlights the NCSC’s commitment to ensuring justice and accountability in incidents of this nature, reinforcing the importance of protecting symbols of social justice like the Ambedkar statue.
