Amaravati: Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is set to commence its operations in Visakhapatnam within three months, announced Andhra Pradesh IT and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh during a discussion in the Assembly. He highlighted the state’s commitment to attracting IT investments and creating employment opportunities for the youth.
Mr. Lokesh attributed setbacks in the IT sector to policies of the previous government, which allegedly demanded shares in IT companies, leading to an exodus of key players like NICSI and STBI. He emphasized that under the TDP-led regime between 2014 and 2019, over 150 IT companies were established, generating 50,000 jobs.
The minister also disclosed plans to bring Infosys to Vizag, with efforts underway to allocate land for their campus. He revealed an ambitious target of creating five lakh IT jobs in five years, supported by initiatives to establish data centers and attract $100 billion in investments annually.
Additionally, Mr. Lokesh announced that the Bhogapuram Airport project is progressing rapidly, and Vizag will soon host the nation’s largest convention center as part of a broader social ecosystem. A new policy to attract Fortune 500 companies is also in the pipeline.
