Vijayawada: Minister Kandula Durgesh emphasized the importance of teaching primary education in the mother tongue, drawing a poignant comparison between mother’s milk and pumped milk to highlight the uniqueness of native language education.
Speaking at the conclusion of the 6th World Telugu Writers’ Conference, held over two days in Vijayawada, Durgesh congratulated the organizers for their efforts to uphold the Telugu language and culture. He appreciated the decision to name the main platform after Ramoji Rao, acknowledging his contributions to preserving Telugu.
Durgesh criticized the previous government for undermining the Telugu language by promoting English-only education, stating that their decisions betrayed the essence of Telugu. He lauded Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for his deep understanding of the language and arts and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan for his contributions as an artist.
The minister called for literary tourism development and highlighted the significance of institutions like Kara Masteri Katha Nilayam and libraries in Rajamahendravaram for language preservation. He stressed the role of civil society in encouraging the youth to read books and promoting the mother tongue.
At the event, it was resolved to prioritize Telugu in primary education and encourage its use in daily life. Copies of these resolutions were handed over to Minister Durgesh.
