National Award-winning actor Keerthy Suresh is excited about her upcoming Netflix series ‘Akka’, which also stars Radhika Apte. The series will premiere on October 30.
Speaking at the trailer launch, Keerthy said she was drawn to the story and wanted it to be her first Hindi-language project. Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the series is set in the 1980s in Pernuru, a fictional kingdom shaped by generations of women.
Keerthy plays Bhavani, while Radhika Apte plays Rudra. Their different views and rivalry shape the kingdom’s struggle for power.
Keerthy said the story felt unique and praised the director for helping her prepare for the role. She also spoke about the script-reading sessions and look tests, which gave her a new experience as an actor.
She added that she enjoyed working with Radhika and had admired her performances for a long time.
Produced by YRF Entertainment, ‘Akka’ marks another major step in Keerthy’s career after her Hindi film debut in Baby John (2024). She won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role as Savitri in ‘Mahanati’ (2018).
