Andhra Pradesh Faces a Major Cyclone Challenge

Cyclone Arnab has brought difficult weather conditions to parts of Andhra Pradesh, affecting homes, farms and public services. The state government has been working to move people to safety and restore basic services in affected areas.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to send a Central team to assess the damage and help plan further support.

CM Naidu said more than 28,000 people had been moved to rehabilitation centres. The state had also deployed 16 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and 11 State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams across 14 districts.

According to the Chief Minister’s letter, Konaseema, Kakinada, East Godavari, West Godavari, Anakapalli and Krishna were among the worst-affected districts. Crops, houses, roads and electricity poles had suffered damage.

The state government said no loss of life had been reported at the time of the letter, crediting its advance preparations. Officials were focusing on restoring electricity and drinking water supplies while monitoring rain and flooding.

CM Naidu said a detailed damage report would be sent to the Centre after the assessment. He also sought continued central support for relief and rehabilitation work.
