The Special Task Force, would be questioning actress Sunny Leone in regard to the Ponzi Scam that involves kingpin Abhinav Mittal. On Monday, the police questioned the Hotel Crown Plaza Staff in Greater Noida where the party was held and Sunny Leone was invited to be the Chief guest. The event that happened on November 29 saw the launch of an e-commerce portal.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police, Raj Kumar Mishra said, “The Prize Chits and Money Circulation Schemes Act 1978, prohibits promotion of any such scheme. We have got evidence and photos of the actor in the promotional event. She may be questioned if required during the investigation.”
The actress was brought in for questioning after pictures of Abhinav Mittal surfaced with Sunny Leone and Ameesha Patel. But a policeman said that those belonged to a birthday party that did not concern the police. The Ponzi scam made money by baiting ‘likes.’ They were accused of defrauding Rs.3,700 crore from 6,50,000 investors. The kingpin offered money to individuals for liking and increasing the traffic of few pages over the internet. They were assured of Rs.5 per like and those interested should pay Rs.5,750 to Rs. 57,500 subscription based on the plan.
As the amount entered into hundreds of crores the Lucknow Zonal Police looked into the case and registered a Money Laundering Act case against the firm.
The police since then have taken up the interrogation and Sunny Leone will be questioned in regard to the same.
