Congress President Sonia Gandhi, finally said Rahul Gandhi would be taking over as the Party Chief very soon. She was quoted saying, “You have been asking this for so many years and it’s now happening.”
Sonia Gandhi was at the launch of the former president Pranab Mukherjee’s autobiography when she made the statement.
However, Rahul Gandhi diverted all topics on his takeover and instead kept talking about the BJP President Amit Shah’s son Jay Shah and his takeover of that party.
Sources have revealed that after Diwali Rahul Gandhi would take over as President. Congress is in the midst of an elaborate process to elect state chiefs and members of central bodies.
The party’s decision making body, Congress Working Committee will be meeting soon to decide the date for the election of the new president.
Rahul Gandhi will be elevated unopposed just like his mother who only faced an election once in 19 years.
Senior Leader, Mani Shankar Aiyar was quoted saying, Only two people can be Congress President, mother or son.” Making it clear that Rahul will be the one to lead the Congress next.
