Hyderabad: In a significant development as the Telangana government honored its promise to junior doctors by issuing two Government Orders (GOs). These GOs allocate funds for the construction of hostels at Osmania and Gandhi Hospitals and for the repair of roads at Kakatiya Medical College. The allocation includes Rs. 204.85 crores for Kakatiya University, with specific amounts earmarked for Osmania and Gandhi Hospitals and CC roads.
The announcement comes amidst ongoing protests by junior doctors, who had gathered at Gandhi Hospital representing medical colleges statewide. Discussions with Health Ministry officials indicated a potential resolution to their grievances.
Following intense negotiations that extended late into Tuesday night, the government assured the doctors of accommodation facilities at Gandhi and Osmania Hospitals, along with funds for road repairs at Kakatiya University. The doctors, who had temporarily suspended their strike pending these assurances, emphasized their readiness to resume protests if the promises were not fulfilled promptly.
In response, the government swiftly released the promised GOs on Wednesday, signaling a tentative resolution to the standoff with junior doctors.
