Yadagirigutta: The Executive Officer of Yadagirigutta Devasthanam, Bhaskar Rao, confirmed on Wednesday that the ghee used for preparing the sacred Laddu Prasadam of Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple has been tested and found to be pure. Following concerns raised about the quality of ghee used in temple prasadam, the samples of Mother Dairy ghee, which is used in the preparation, were sent to the state food laboratory in Nacharam, Hyderabad, for testing on the orders of the government.
Bhaskar Rao revealed that the laboratory tests have confirmed the ghee to be of high quality and pure, dispelling any doubts. He added that the devasthanam has been purchasing the ghee at Rs.609 per kg, adhering to the prescribed standards. Approximately 1,000 kg of ghee is consumed daily, with an annual expenditure of around Rs.15 crore on Mother Dairy ghee, which has been used for the past 40 years through the tender process.
He further explained that while the government recently issued an order to use Vijaya Dairy ghee, Mother Dairy ghee will continue to be used until the end of the current tender period, which runs until next March.
