Telangana BJP Chief Challenges Congress Over Voter Roll Review

The revision of electoral rolls has sparked a political debate, with the Congress raising concerns about possible voter deletions. The issue has drawn fresh criticism from the BJP in Telangana, adding to the debate over how voter lists are checked.

Telangana BJP president Ramchander Rao on Tuesday criticised Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi for seeking a halt to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

Speaking to IANS, Rao questioned the demand and said the Congress had not provided proof to support its claims of voter deletions. He also said the review process had progressed across several states, including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala and Karnataka.

Rao alleged that the Congress was misleading people with its claims of vote theft. He also defended Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), pointing out that opposition parties had won elections using the same system.

The Congress has raised concerns about the electoral process, while Rao has urged the party to provide specific evidence to support its allegations.

The debate comes as political parties continue to differ over the voter list review and the credibility of election procedures.
