The Andhra Pradesh Government, on the 26th of May, issued guidelines known as Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for shops and street vendors in the State.

According to the SOP, shops selling footwear, garments and jewellery along with street vendors could start to open shops with the SOP guidelines.

Under the guidelines, the shops garment shops should not have a trial room and vendors selling pani puri are prohibited.  Vendors were asked to serve only to ones who are having face masks.

In addition, street vendors need to sanitize or wash their hands every 30 minutes, ensuring less than five people gather at the stall with distance. .

In addition, street vendors who are registered with concerned authorities with a street vendor identity card would be allowed to operate in the markets.  They could get an identity card through their ward secretariat.

Speaking about jewellery stores and other general stores were asked to provide disposable gloves to customers, to touch and look at things closely. 

Newspapers, magazines and refreshments in lounge areas of furnished shops were also prohibited

All garment, footwear and jewelry stores in the State were asked to maintain a detail of the customers visiting the shop or have online bookings if possible.

No stores can allow customers or staff with COVID-19 symptoms to enter the premises, and in case of big stores, asymptomatic people can only enter after thermal screening.

All customers and staff in any store need to maintain general guidelines of wearing face masks and sanitise their hands

Stores will have to place sanitisers at every counter, and entry and exit points. All customers would maintain 6 feet distance with each other.

Bigger outlets and franchise stores have been asked to place footwear disinfectants at all entry points.

Stores have been asked to encourage contactless transactions. Cards used for payment will have to be sanitised before and after use.

WIth these additional guidelines, shops in Andhra Pradesh would resume amid the pandemic crisis of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection.
