Amaravati: In a significant development, the police filed a petition on Monday seeking custody of the accused, Satish Kumar, currently under arrest and remand in connection with the Gulakarai case. The Principal Junior Civil Judge-cum-Metropolitan Magistrate has directed further investigation into the alleged conspiracy surrounding the incident, particularly considering the victim’s identity as Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy.

Given the gravity of the situation, the magistrate has been petitioned to grant seven days of custody to delve deeper into the matter. The hearing, presided over by Magistrate Ramana Reddy, has been adjourned until Tuesday for further deliberation.

Additionally, on Monday, arguments were presented regarding the petition to record the accused’s statement under Section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC). The hearing took place in the fourth Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court. Considering the complexity of the case and the necessity for thorough investigation, the police urged for Satish’s statement to be recorded. Meanwhile, the defense counsel, Salim, requested more time to file a counter. In response, Judge Rammohan postponed the proceedings to the 29th of this month.
