Protests against the Muslim Countries Ban imposed by Trump at the Los Angeles International Airport.

US President Donald Trump has recently banned the citizens of seven Muslim countries  from entering the Country, this includes Green Card holders. There have been worldwide protests against this move. The most recent organization to join this is Twitter Inc. Despite Trump being a regular Twitter user, the employees of this microblogging site donated $ 1.59 million to the organization to fight Trump.

TechCrunch, a news technological daily reported that almost 1,000 employees donated huge amounts to the American Civil Liberties Union(ACLU) in order to fight the Executive Order on the temporary travel ban imposed by Trump. The donors also include CEO Jack Dorsey and Executive Chairman Omid Kordestani.

Vijaya Gadde, the General Counsel of Twitter quoted, “Our work is far from done. In the coming months, we’ll see a flurry of legal challenges, legislative pushes, and public pronouncements.” The ACLU apart from the Twitter donation received a whopping amount of $24 million within a few days of the ban. This amount is a six fold higher than the total amount collected in 2016.

The report also read, “In a further sign of support from Silicon Valley, the ACLU entered Y Combinator’s accelerator program earlier this week where it will receive mentorship and guidance from areas like hiring, the use of technology and more.”

Amazon and Expedia, the US tech giants had previously filed a lawsuit in Federal Court of Seattle against Trump administration quoting that the ban will affect their business. A huge customer base and also many employees of the organizations were affected by the travel ban imposed by Trump.
