6 Killed As 6.1 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Rome, Central Italy

Rome: A 6.2 magnitude earthquake stuck Rome and Central Italy on Wednesday. The quake also claimed the lives of at least six people. Many buildings collapsed and people were trapped under rubble. The quake struck at 3:36 A.M., and was felt across a broad section of central Italy, including the Capital, Rome.

According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake rattled with a magnitude of 6.2 with the epicenter at Norcia, about 170 (105 miles) kilometers northeast of Rome. The European Mediterranean Seismological Center put the magnitude at 6.1.
