The highest reported deaths due to selfies in 2015 were in India, and it does not seem to be getting any better. Another case has been registered of selfie death, after two men fell from the top of a waterfall and drowned as they tryied to click a selfie, on Sunday.
The victims were identified as Md Fayaz (22) a degree student and Md Ansar (23) a mechanic. On Sunday, the duo has traveled to Kuntala waterfalls in Adilabad district with a group of friends.
The group of friends are all resident of Argul village in Nizambad district. The two accidentally slipped and feel down the waterfall while trying to click a picture of themselves.
As soon as the incident occurred a search operation was launched to recover their bodies but the heavy rain made it difficult for the operation to succeed.
A news channel reported when Fayaz and Ansar were drowning, people around them were taking a video instead of calling for help.
Kuntala waterfalls is a popular picnic spot but they don’t have enough security personnel patrolling the area.
In 2012, a man drowned while trying to click a picture of his friend near the water body.
In 2015, two 21 year old engineering students fell and drowned in the waterfall.
