Porn Ban: Government Temporarily Releases Ban On Websites

PORN BAN INDIA

Porn Ban: Last couple of days, if there was anything that was bothering the netizens in India, was the inability to access porn websites, as government imposed a ban on as many as 857 porn websites in India, in order to reduce child pornography.

Post this, there was a huge hue and cry against the government, and the support kept pouring in from the normal people to big celebrities.

However, facing the backlash from all corners, the government has now decided to temporarily lift the imposed ban on these porn websites.

Operators will now have to unblock all of these websites, but there is still a restriction on those websites promoting child pornography. The revised order is drawing the ire of service providers, who have been effectively asked to check and decide which sites need to be blocked.

“This whole thing is very ambiguous. How are we supposed to check if the sites have child porn?” said an official at one of India’s main telecom operators.

“Is this what we are supposed to do now?” the exasperated executive said, referring to having to check sites for child pornography.

There is a huge increase in the use of social media and smartphones in India and likewise, the demand for pornography rapidly increasing.
