A salute to the brave soldier who slipped into a deep coma after taking nine bullets. The good news is that CRPF Commanding officer Chetan Cheeta could be discharged today from Delhi’s AIIMS Trauma Center. Two months ago Cheeta was shot by 9 bullets during a battle with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir and was flown to 92 Base hospital in Srinagar.Cheeta’s condition had become worse and the decision to airlift the officer to AIIMS Trauma Centre was made. During the encounter,Cheeta lost his right eye with fractures in the upper limb and maxillofacial injury.
To improve the condition, a portion of Cheta’s skull was removed to reduce intracranial pressure and was put on heavy antibiotics to lessen the infection. Cheta’s condition began to improve after a month and was taken off the ventilator.
Cheeta wife, Uma Singh told the sources, “He is a very determined person and a fitness freak. I always knew he would recover.”
Cheeta is truly a Cheeta who not only survived the bullets but also killed a top Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abu Musaib in the joint operation by Jammu and Kashmir police and CRPF and Army.
