Costliest Smuggled S#IT Ever!

Ever since Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared the Demonetization scheme, airports across the country are following stringent rules during the passenger check-in process. In a recent incident, six members of a family were caught carrying sixteen gold biscuits of one kilo each. The family flew from Dubai to Delhi and were intercepted thoroughly by the security agencies.

Two couples along with two babies had cleverly concealed the gold biscuits in the diapers and towels of the two babies they were carrying. The investigation found out that the couples are from Surat.
S. R. Baruah, Commissioner of Customs said, “We have recovered 16 kilos of gold biscuits from the passengers who had traveled by flight number 6E 022 from Dubai. Based on profiling, the PAX were identified in the arrival area, after having crossed the green channel.” The gold worth 4.28 crore was recovered after detailed personal and baggage search. However, the group failed to provide necessary papers for carrying such heavy amount of gold and now are being interrogated by the customs officials.
After the Demonetization move, dozens of passengers, including foreign nationals have been arrested. According to a data maintained by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), rupees 20 lakh in cash has been seized in the past one week. The heavy amount of cash were seized in different cases. Since November 9, close to rupees 6.9 crores in cash has been seized along with gold of worth rupees 9 crores.
