The last wish of Yakub Memon was to meet his daughter Zubeida, after he lost all the hopes on the fresh mercy petition which was denied by the judiciary.
Prison officials arranged for a telephone conversation for Yakub and his daughter, who stayed in Mumbai.
The last wish of Yakub was urged after an emotionally-charged meeting with his elder brother Suleiman, just few hours before he was scheduled to be hanged for plotting bomb blast at Mumbai that killed 257 people in the year 1993.
“He was very happy and cheerful after talking to his daughter,” a jail official told, a fact later reported by Suleiman.
Emotionally disturbed Yakub broke down in front of his elder brother and remembered all his family members especially his wife Raheen and daughter Zubeida while counting his last minutes.
