Petrol And Diesel Prices Continue To Increase In Metro Cities Like Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi And Kolkata

Once again, metro cities and Indian states witnessed a hike in fuel prices on the 20th of October, Wednesday.

In the past few days many cities and states are reporting a hike in petrol and diesel prices, crossing the Rs. 100 mark, almost everyday. Today at 6:00 A.M., the nation reported another hike in petrol and diesel prices by 35 paise approximately.

Due to the rise in petrol and diesel prices, the common people are suffering massively. The daily rise in fuel prices is a matter of concern for people as the rise is leading to an unbalanced budget, expensive vegetables and other items, exported from different states. Flowers, fruits and vegetables prices are hitting a new high with the constant rise of fuel prices.

In addition, the prices of Uber, Ola and other private vehicle services could increase due to the petrol prices, which crossed Rs. 100/liter, in major metropolitan cities.

Opposition parties like the Indian National Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) behind the constant rise in fuel prices. The major reason behind the rise in prices is to balance retail prices in line with global developments due to the rise in crude oil prices.

This is the 13th time in the past two weeks that the petrol and diesel prices have increased in India. However, the rise in prices are different in different cities and states.

The petrol price in Delhi is at Rs. 106.19 per liter and diesel price is at Rs. 94.92.

The petrol price in Chennai per litre is at Rs. 103.31 and the diesel is priced at Rs. 99.26 per litre. In Kolkata the petrol and diesel prices are at Rs. 106.78 and Rs. 98.03 per litre, respectively.

In Mumbai, the petrol price per litre is Rs. 112.11 and the diesel price is at Rs. 102.89 per litre

In Hyderabad also, prices hit a new high with prices of petrol and diesel being Rs. 110.46 and Rs. 103.46 per litre, respectively. Of all the cities, Mumbai and Hyderabad have the highest prices of fuel, both diesel and petrol.

State owned fuel retailers, the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., (IOC,) the Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd., (HPCL) resume daily price revision. Everyday fuel prices are updated at 6:00 A.M. Fuel prices differ from state to state depending on the incidence of local taxes such as VAT and freight charges.
