The South Railways came up with a new proposal to restore the Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi rail line soon.
The railway line which was operational earlier was destroyed in 1964 due to a Tsunami, killing several passengers and train people.
Mr. Anand, the Assistant Executive Engineer of the Madurai Division said, the government planned to restore the station and construct it again. The restoration of the line track connecting two destinations in Tamil Nadu, Rameswaram and Dhanushkodi would ease travel for people. An official said the new rail track will have an 18-km line, three stations, and one terminal station. Since the 1964 Tsunami, the Dhanushkodi station was out of service, which finally will be restored.
The new station’s details would be announced soon.
Stay tuned for further updates.
