Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao, the Chief Minister of Telangana, inaugurated the KCR Nagar 2 BHK Dignity Housing Colony, on the 22nd of June, Thursday.

Built in Kollur Village under the Patancheru Assembly Constituency of Sangareddy District, the KCR Nagar BHK Housing Colony is Asia’s largest colony.  Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao launched the colony at 11:00 A.M., and dedicate it to the people of Telangana.

During the inauguration event, Mr. K. Chandrashekar Rao handover the house site pattas to six beneficiaries.  The project stands as the largest housing project in the country where the government distributes free houses to the beneficiaries without any kind of payment from the beneficiaries.

Constructed under the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS,) there would be 15,660 houses at one place to accommodate about 60,000 people.  The constructed 2 BHKs, built at a cost of Rs. 1,489.29 crores, have good infrastructure on par with corporate style with basic facilities and modern structure.  Spread over 142 acres, there would be 117 blocks, and each block would be ground + 9 floors, or ground + 10 floors.  Each block would have 2 lifts and CCTV cameras installed. There would be 24/7 water supply and power back up establishment in the colony.  In addition, there would be 108 shops which would be rented to vendors and local businessmen. The rent from shops and partial amounts from the residents would be used for the maintenance work of the colony.  In addition, after shifting of the people, there would be a committee formed comprising of the residents of the colony, who would be responsible for the maintenance work.

Started construction in 2018, the complex, a dream project of the Telangana Government is now finally completed and the houses would be given to the beneficiaries, today, the 22nd of June.
