Food has always been a topic of discussion especially, when it comes to talking about food with people around the country. A friend of mine from Delhi started talking about the place and the varieties of dishes for which Delhi is famous. Apart from chat, Suji ke golgappe or chole bhature Delhi has more to offer. While many I know have visited Paranthe Wali Gali and the feedback they shared made me share their experience with you.

So why is Paranthe wali gali so famous?
Making paratha is no doubt an art and mastering the art by offering 36 unique varieties is definitely crazy! To talk about the fillings you won’t believe what I say until you try it yourself. Located in Chandni Chowk the paranthas served are strictly vegetarian. Shops at the paranthe wali gali serve parathas stuffed with lemon, Kaju, Khoya, bitter gourd, lady’s finger, radish (mooli,) carrot, cauliflower (gobi,) paneer, aloo and much more. But this is not the end of it, there is more to paranthe wali gali. You cannot go back without trying some of the most unusual stuffings : Banana paratha, papad paratha, rabri parantha, khurchan paratha.best-paranthas-at-paranthe-wali-gali

What’s more to it?

We all know that the parathas are shallow fried but what’s makes the parathas of this gali different is the way it is cooked. The parantha wala deep fries the paratha cooking it evenly and making it even more delicious. One of the most mouth watering and succulent parantha is the one made in 6 different layers. The paratha is stuffed with different masalas and evenly rolled in 6 layers and what completes the dish are the accompaniments that are served along with the parantha. A regular parantha wala will serve parantha with curd and a pickle but the parathas from paranthe wali gali will serve it with Lassi, sweet tamarind chutney, mint chutney, mixed vegetable pickle, paneer and potato curry, salad and last but not the least sauteed mash of sweet pumpkin!mango-news-8
