Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is on a seven day trip to India and visited the Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad. Trudeau accompanied by his wife and three children visited Taj Mahal in Agra yesterday.
The Canadian PM also visited the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar and partook at the IIM Ahmedabad event. This is Trudeau’s second visit to India but this is his first visit to Gujarat. PM Trudeau will visit the historic temple on the 21st of February.
Trudeau’s trip also includes Ahmedabad, Mumbai and New Delhi along with Agra and Amritsar. This visit gives PM Trudeau the opportunity to connect with Indian leaders in the Government and businesses in India. He will also promote empowerment of girls and women and create job opportunities.
Trudeau will partake in several roundtable business meeting to promote trade and investment between India and Canada. Both the countries have been building their relationship with each other over the years. Around 1.4 million Canadians have Indian heritage as Canada is the second largest source of immigrants from India.
Along with PM Trudeau his cabinet colleagues Foreign Minister Chrystia Freeland, Sports Minister Kirsty Duncan, Science and Economic Development Minister Navdeep Bains, Infrastructure Minister Amarjeet Sohi and Defence Minister Harjit Singh Sajjan will visit India.
