The Cauvery protests extended to the IPL matches in Chennai after a shoe was thrown at South African Captain Faf du Plessis. This incident occurred on Tuesday during the match between Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
Fortunately, Plessis was not hit by the shoe and the two culprits were immediately arrested. The police also arrested three others who were raising “We want Cauvery” slogans.
Thousands were gathered outside the Chennai Stadium demanding the Center to form a Cauvery Board. The toss for the match was delayed by 13 minutes as the match officials struggled to enter the arena due to the protestors.
However, the rest of the match went on smoothly as the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association posted 4000 police personnel at the stadium. The protests were controlled by the massive police group.
