The Andhra Pradesh (A.P.,) Government is going to provide financial assistance to the migrant workers and the poor families even those without White Ration cards.

Previously, the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) announced to distribute for free 12 kgs of rice with an additional Rs. 1,000 to the White Ration card holders in A.P.

However, the scheme which was limited to only a few families in A.P., left these migrant workers and individuals without White Ration cards starving during this lockdown period.  Considering these workers and poor families, Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the Chief Minister of A.P., decided to extend help to them as well. On the 7th of April, Mr. Reddy released an official statement and announced the financial aid and other benefits to these migrant workers and poor families.

He asked the village volunteers and the ward secretariats to distribute the rations and Rs. 1,000 to migrant workers and other poor families during the Nationwide lockdown.

So far, 1.33 crores families in the State were given the financial assistance of Rs. 1,000 and free rice.

The Nationwide lockdown imposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to end on the 15th  of April. On the other hand, looking at the increasing numbers of the Novel Coronavirus infection cases, the YSRCP Government might extend the lockdown in the State even past the 15th of April.

Other state governments besides the Telangana Government, such as Maharashtra  and A.P., governments are thinking to extend the lockdown further, due to the increasing COVID-19 cases.

In Andhra Pradesh, 314 people are COVID-19 infected, 306 are active cases, 5 recovered and 3 deceased till date.
