On the 13th of May, the Telangana police registered a case against Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the President of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Telangana .

A few leaders of the opposition party filed a case against the BJP President for violating the social distancing norms while Mr. Bandi Sanjay went on a visit to Nalgonda district, Telangana.

Mr. Bandi Sanjay along with a few BJP leaders went to Nalgonda to review the situation and address the issues of farmers in the area.   However, the leader failed to maintain physical distance of 2 metres, which led to a violation of social distancing norms.

The Peddavura police registered a case against  Bandi Sanjay and other leaders under section 188 (Disobedience to order promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC.)

A.V. Ranganath, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Nalgonda registered the case and is investigating the matter.

Telangana is under strict lockdown rules till the 29th of May.

Meanwhile on the 13 of May, Nalgonda reported 17 positive cases of the Novel Coronavirus or COVID-19 infection, out of which 5 are active cases and 12 recovered/discharged.
