J. Anbazhagan, a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) passed away on the 10th of June.
Mr. Anbazhagan died on the morning of the 10th of June at Dr. Rela Institute & Medical Centre Multispeciality Hospital in Chennai. He was admitted at the hospital on the 2nd of June, after being positive for the Novel Coronavirus.
He died at the age of 61 due to the deadly Novel Coronavirus infection in Chennai. Anbazhagan was also ailing with other comorbidities and severe acute respiratory distress.
His condition was said to be unstable as since the 3rd of June, he was on ventilator and later on the 7th of June, his condition deteriorated.
The hospital administration released a statement and confirmed his death. The statement read, “J. Anbazhagan, who has been fighting for his life with severe Covid-19 pneumonia rapidly deteriorated early this morning. In spite of full medical support including mechanical ventilation at our Covid facility, he succumbed to his illness.”
M.K. Stalin, the President of the DMK mourned the death of J. Anbazhagan and said, “Where will we see you after this brother?”
Mr. Stalin took to Twitter and said, “Anbazhagan worked hard during the times of Covid19, especially to take the schemes of the DMK to the people at the time of the pandemic but unfortunately got infected during his service to the public.”
M.K. Stalin also wrote to DMK leaders and asked them to postpone all the party functions and meetings, as the Party would mourn J. Anbazhagan’s death for 3 days and would fly the party flag at half mast.
Besides M.K. Stalin and DMK leaders, Chief Minister of Puducherry also condoled the death of the DMK leader.
Shashi Tharoor, a member of the Indian National Congress also expressed grief over the demise of Mr. Anbazhagan. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister E Palanisamy also condemned his death.
J. Anbazhagan is survived by his wife and two children.
