Telangana Government To Discuss Reopening Of Colleges In State

The Chief Secretary of the Telangana Education Department Chitra Ramachandran, is scheduled to conduct a meeting over the reopening of schools and colleges in the State.

The meeting is scheduled on the 9th of November.

The decision to conduct a meeting was taken after the University Grant Commission (UGC) issued new guidelines on the reopening of educational institutions across India.

While schools and colleges in Uttarakhand, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab are opened, states like West Bengal, Telangana, Karnataka are still mulling over the thought.

The UGC on the 5th of November issued a set of guidelines for the reopening of universities and colleges.

Schools, universities, colleges and other educational institutions have been shut since the 24th of March in the State.

The decision to close all the educational institutions was taken to control the spread of the Novel Coronavirus and follow the guidelines of the then issued nationwide lockdown.

The final decision after the UGC announcement would be taken by the State Government.

Considering the situation of COVID-19 in state, respective state governments of India would take the decision.

However, the decision for central universities would be taken by the vice chancellors of the respective campuses.
